We are pleased to announce the programme for the international conference “Scholarly Readings of Young Historians XI” (SR YH XI)! SR YH XI will be held at the Valmiera Museum on December 5-6, 2025. The working language on the first day of the conference will be English, and on the second day – Latvian. 29 young historians will present their papers on diverse aspects of political, social, religious, military history and international relations, covering periods from prehistory to the present day.
SR YH, an annual tradition, will be hosted in Valmiera for the eleventh time. It has also been recognised within the museum field, having received the Latvian Museum Association's Annual Award in 2024. The conference has become a platform for young historians, allowing them to share their research results and develop their professional and academic skills.
The opening of SR YH XI will feature the launch of the collection of articles “Scholarly Readings of Young Historians X”. The first day of the conference will start with a paper on public speaking in medieval Livonia by doctoral candidate Liene Rokpelne, while the second day will feature a discussion on the opportunities and challenges created by artificial intelligence in historical research, led by doctoral candidate Mārcis Kalniņš.
